Performing Arts
Mapleton Public Schools students are invited to be a part of band, orchestra or choir. Band and orchestra students must have one year of play experience on their instrument. Any student in grades 6-12 may participate in choir. Band, orchestra and choir meet before school during zero hour from 7 a.m. - 8 a.m. at the Skyview Campus. The Transportation Department provides service for students for all before school programs.

Student Activities
Science Fair
Full of investigations, examinations and experiments, Mapleton’s Science Fair is a great way for students to ask important questions and find exciting answers. Students are selected to compete in the District Science Fair based on school-level competitions.
2011 District Science Fair - Tuesday, Nov. 29, Skyview Cafeteria (8990 York St., Thornton)

2011 Winner: York International School 3rd grader Ted Espinosa, with “I want my Mummy!”
Spelling Bee
Held in February, the Spelling Bee is a great opportunity for students to exercise their lexicon. Schools host their own spelling bee or administer written-word tests to determine which students compete at the District-level. The District Spelling Bee begins with a 50-word written exam that is graded while students share dinner and dessert. The 20 students with the highest score on the written exam move on to compete in the oral competition.
Students may prepare for the Spelling Bee by visiting the following sites: www.spellingbee.com, or http://www.word-buff.com/spelling-bee-words.html
Art Show
The District Art Show celebrates the creative talents of Mapleton students grades K-12. The show is held in April and art work is on display for a week.
