Mapleton Public Schools Dress Codes
Explore Elementary (K-6)
- Shirts: Explore Eagle shirts (polo, hoodie, T-shirt), or solid gray, sliver, white, black or blue polo shirt.
- Pants/skirts/shorts: Must be clean, no holes, good condition, no distracting writing, no sagging.
- Notes: There are NO T-shirt substitutes. Long shirts are permitted under the uniform shirt.
Achieve Academy (K-8)
- Shirt: Collared (polo) in white, blue, navy blue (long and short sleeves are permitted). School issued clothing is permitted (Achieve polo).
- Pants: Khaki, navy blue, or black, NO DENIM
- Notes: All shirts must be tucked in, no open-toed shoes
Clayton Partnership School (K-8)
- Shirt: black, white or light blue colored: Shirts must have collars and be solid light blue, black or white in color with no logos or brand
names on them larger than the size of a quarter. All shirts must be either long sleeved or short
sleeved. Buttondown
or polo shirts with collars and 2-3 buttons down the front are allowed. No
more than two top buttons may be unbuttoned. Black, white or light blue turtlenecks are allowed.
Shirts must be tucked in and must remain tucked in during the school day. Only solid black, white,
or light blue sweaters or sweater vests may be worn in school. These must be worn with a light
blue, black or white shirt underneath. Clayton Partnership hoodies and t-shrits will be allowed.
- Bottoms - navy blue, black or khaki colored: Pants must be solid colored navy blue, black or khaki. Slacks, dark blue or black jeans, cargo
pants, shorts and capri pants or corduroys may be worn to school as long as they are navy blue,
black or khaki in color. Only solid, black, navy blue or khaki colored dresses, skirts and jumpers
are allowed. Dresses, skirts, jumpers and shorts may not be more than 4 inches above the middle of
the kneecap and cannot be tight fitting or see-through. No logos, designs, or adornments on
bottoms. Pants and shorts that are baggy or sagging will not be allowed. Sweatpants or pajama
pants may not be worn unless it is a designated, school-wide pajama day. Belts should be solid,
dark colored cloth (navy blue, dark brown or black), leather or vinyl with no logos. Belts should not have spikes or rings on them and should not have excess hanging on the belt from the waistline.
Meadow Community (K-8)
- Outfit options: Navy blue bottoms/ hunter green collared top Khaki bottoms/ hunter green or navy blue top
- Notes: Logos on shirt cannot be larger than a quarter. All shirts must be either long sleeved or short sleeved. Shirts must be tucked in. Cargo pants, shorts, and capris are permitted. Only solid navy blue or khaki colored dressed, skirts and jumpers are allowed.
Monterey Community School (K-8)
- Shirts: Shirts must be collared and solid white or solid navy. Logos cannot exceed ½ by 1½ inches on the chest pocket (i.e. Alligator, swoosh, Polo, etc).
- Pants: Only solid black, navy, or khaki dress slacks are allowed. Corduroy is permitted. Traditional "levi blue jeans" are NOT permitted.
- Notes: Colors between shirt and slacks must contrast. Button down or polo shirts with collars and 2-3 buttons down the front are appropriate.
MESA (7-12)
- No hats or head gear, including doo rags or bandanas
- No underwear can be visible; all underwear must be covered
- No excessive skin exposure
- No tank tops; only shirts with sleeves may be worn
- All shorts and skirts must reach two inches above the knee
- Students cannot wear clothing that is gang-affiliated, drug or alcohol related, or offensive
If students are wearing something that is in violation of the dress code, they will be given two choices:
1) Cover the clothing with appropriate clothing
2) Call home to ask parents to bring appropriate clothes before returning to classroom environment
Academy High School (9-12)
- Shirts must be fitted and long enough to naturally touch the top of the lower garment and/or be tucked in.
- Shirts must cover the shoulders.
- All attire should be sized to fit without exposing undergarments, buttocks, stomachs or cleavage.
- Any facial piercing of the nose, lips, or eyebrow must not extend more than 1/8" above the surface of the skin.
- Shorts and skirts must be fingertip length when arms are resting at sides.
- Shoes/sandals must be worn at all times.
9th and 10th Grade Students are required to be in a uniformed dress code. This means students may use school issued attire or the following:
- Students are expected to wear collared shirts in the following colors: Black, Navy Blue, White, and Grey.
- Shirts must be solid colors with no prints or patterns.
- Logos on shirts may not me larger than 3 square inches.
- Pants are to be solid in color with no prints or patterns. Acceptable colors are khaki, navy blue and black.
- No jeans or denim are allowed.
- School issued attire is available at Skyview Academy's main office.
11th and 12th Grade students are expected to dress appropriately for school. As leaders and role models in our school, we expect upper classmen to dress in a way that promotes a positive school culture. The following items of clothing are specifically prohibited:
- Sagging pants
- Spaghetti straps, tank or tube tops and halter tops
- Transparent/mesh clothing
- Spandex tops, pants, dresses or skirts
- Make-up that makes a student unidentifiable
- Exposed undergarments, low cut muscle shirts
- Pajamas and house slippers
- Shirts with revealing necklines (showing cleavage) or armholes
- Shirts hanging longer than the fingertips when arms are fully extended.
- Sunglasses, hats, or caps worn indoors.
- Combat boots or jumpsuits
- Clothing or jewelry that has negative imagery, skulls, weaponry, etc.
- Pants with writing across the rear end
- Gloves worn indoors
- Hairnets, bandanas, and du-rags
- Caps, athletic headbands and armbands (prohibited indoors except when the wearer is participating in a sporting event)
- Clothing or accessories that promotes drugs, alcohol or tobacco either by brand or message; lifestyle.
- Clothing or accessories with sexually suggestive language or messages.
- Clothing or accessories that promote violence, criminal activity, intimidation or intolerance of others (based on religion, ethnicity, gender or clothing or accessory that physically or symbolically intimidate or threaten others.
- Clothing or accessories that could readily be used as a weapon or might otherwise injure the wearer, including items with spikes or loose hanging chains.
- Attire, accessories or manners of grooming indicative of affiliation with a gang, secret society or disruptive group. This includes, but is not limited to clothing, gang-related colors or numbers, bandanas, sports logos/apparel, make-up, hats, emblems, trademarks, badges, insignia, logos, belt buckles, colored shoe strings, and jewelry.
- Trench coats and other like jackets capable of easily concealing weapons.
- Clothing or accessories affiliated with Insane Clown Posse, including all items related to the band's record label "Psychopathic Records" and other groups it sponsors in addition to Insane Clown Posse, including but not limited to Twiztid, Blaze, Boondox, Psychopathic Rydaz and Dark Lotus; and
- Dress guidelines for special events or school-sponsored purposes, including but not limited to dances, extra-curricular activities, and fundraisers shall be at the discretion of school administration based upon the nature of the particular event. Students may avoid the risk of being asked to leave or change clothing at an event by having attire approved in advance by an administrator.
- Uniforms are required for 9th and 10th grade students.
Global Leadership Academy (K-12)
School Uniform Policy
Uniforms are mandatory for all students. In an effort to provide an environment conducive to optimal and safe learning absent of unnecessary distraction, and in an effort toward the implementation, facilitation, and perpetuation of school unity, the following dress will be observed and enforced. No students will be allowed to enter class without the proper uniform. It is expected that all students will be dressed in full uniform at all times, starting on the first day of school, until the last day of classes. Full uniform must be worn for all school events unless otherwise indicated.
Dress Code
- Cleanliness and Neatness: Clothing must be maintained in a clean and neat appearance at all times.
- Sunglasses: No sunglasses allowed in the building without a written doctor's prescription.
- Tattoos: No gang-related tattoos or tattoos that distract from the learning environment. Existing tattoos must be covered with clothing.
- Hats, Caps and Bandannas: Hats or caps may not be worn in the building. Hairnets may only be worn by cafeteria personnel or students or staff members handling food or food products. Bandannas of any color are not allowed on school grounds.
Shirts
- Shirts must be collared and solid white, solid dark green or solid black with no logos or brand names on them with the exception of the Global Leadership Academy school name or logo or a small manufacturer's logo not to exceed ½ by 1½ inches on the chest pocket , i.e.alligator, Nike swoosh, polo etc.Colors between shirt and slacks must contrast. i.e. No all black shirt & black slacks, etc
- All shirts may be either long or short-sleeved. Shirts with holes in them may not be worn to school. No more than two top buttons may be unbuttoned. Shirts must be long enough to tuck in and must remain so during school hours. Button-down or Polo shirts with collars and 2-3 buttons down the front and turtlenecks are appropriate. T-shirts or undergarments should not be visible through the shirt.
Pants
- Only solid black, solid dark green or khaki dress slacks are allowed. Corduroy is permitted. (Traditional "Levi blue jeans are not permitted"). No sagging of pants. Pants 1" below the waistline are considered sagging. No pants that are frayed at the bottom.
- No baggy pants or bell-bottoms (Pants whose inseam or outer seam can be pinched more than 3" from the middle of the thigh and/or middle of the calf).
- No pants that can be pulled more than 3" from the waist are allowed.
- No pants that are rolled up more than an inch are allowed. No cargo pants are allowed.
- No sweat pants, pajamas or nylon slickies. No spandex-type or breakaway pants.
- No embroidered logos on pants to include but not limited to: Jenco, Southpole, Baby Phat, Enyce, Sean John, Rockawear, Phat Farm, FUBU. No stretch denim.
Dresses, Skirts and Jumpers
- Only solid dark green, black or khaki cloth dresses, skirts and jumpers with no logos or brand names on them are allowed (a blouse of acceptable clothing color must be worn under a jumper). Dresses skirts and jumpers may not be more than 4" above the middle of the kneecap and cannot be ragged, tight fitting, see-through, or Lycia spandex.
Shorts, Culottes, Scooters and Skorts
- Only solid dark green or khaki dress shorts, culottes, and shorts with no logos or brand names on them are allowed. Shorts, culottes, scooters and skorts may not be skin tight, shorter than 4" above the middle of the kneecap and must not look like underwear.
- No sagging of shorts, culottes, scooter and skorts (1" below the waistline).
- No shorts; culottes; scooters or skorts with large pockets (more than 5-1/2" in length or width) and none that are frayed at the bottom.
- No baggy shorts, culottes, scooters or skorts. If more than 3" can be pinched from the inseam or outer seam, they are baggy.
- No shorts, culottes, scooter, or skorts that can be pulled more than 3" from the waist and may not ride MORE than 1" above the bellybutton.
Sweater, Vests, Sweater Vest, Inside Jackets and Blazers
- Only solid white, black or solid dark green sweaters, vest, jackets and blazers with no logos or brand names on them are allowed. These must be worn with a shirt underneath when appropriate. Only hoodies with the GLA logo may be worn.
Belts
- Only solid dark colored cloth, leather or vinyl belts with no logos or brand names on them are allowed. No excess hanging on belts from the waistline. No spikes or rings on belts.
Underwear
- No underwear may be worn as outerwear.
Overcoats and Outside Jackets
- Jackets or coats may not contain patches that promote drug use or abuse (i.e., Marijuana leaf), beer/alcohol logos or tobacco products.
- Jackets or coats may not contain logos that are considered offensive (i.e. Confederate flag, swastika, etc.).
- No jackets or coats that contain any words associated with gangs, gang membership or gang turf (i.e., "Homies", "homeboys", east or north side, etc.),
- Absolutely no logos to include, but not limited to: Southpole, Baby Phat, Encyce, Sean John, Rockawear, Phat Farm or FUBU on jackets, coats or sweatshirts.
- Hats, hoods, and caps as appropriate for the weather, except as otherwise prohibited under this procedure, may be worn outside school buildings.
Accessories
- No chokers, dog collar necklaces, spiked necklaces, bullet necklaces, or ball-bearing necklaces.
- No suspenders that hang off the shoulders (they must be fastened properly).
- Wearing excessive pins or buttons is not allowed.
- Wearing gloves in the classroom is not allowed (they may be worn to school).
- Only piercing in the ear are allowed.
Shoes
- No open-toed, steel toed or combat boots or shoes. Only same solid colored laces may be worn on shoes. No bedroom slippers or flip-flops. Hose or socks must be worn at all times.
*Questionable attire will be at the discretion of the administration. Appeals may be made to the Superintendent/Designee of Mapleton Public Schools.
York International (K-12)
Dress Code
- Cleanliness and Neatness: Clothing must be maintained in a clean and neat appearance at all times.
- Sunglasses: No sunglasses allowed in the building without a written doctor's prescription.
- Only piercings in the ear are allowed, students may place clear studs in other pierced areas.
- Tattoos: No gang-related tattoos or tattoos that distract from the learning environment. Existing tattoos must be covered with clothing.
- Hats, Caps and Bandannas: Hats or caps may not be worn in the building. Hairnets may only be worn by cafeteria personnel or students or staff members handling food or food products. Bandannas of any color are not allowed on school grounds.
Shirts

Safe School's Policy
Certain apparel, accessories and symbols are likely to interfere with the safety and security of those who attend or participate in Mapleton schools, programs, and activities. The following items, therefore, are prohibited at York International:
All steel-toed footwear;
All attire indicative of gang affiliation, including but not limited to, "homie" attire, "sagging" pants, hats, caps, and bandanas/"Du-rags"; pacifiers; any apparel which displays the insignia BK, CK, Eight Ball, Sur-13, BLK, ELK, GKI, 303, W/S, DCP or ICP.
Hazardous apparel or jewelry or other items such as spiked belts, spiked wrist bands, spiked rings, spiked coats, chains, laser penlights, or ANY other items which are likely to injure the wearer or someone else
Graffiti, and other symbols, emblems, badges, etc., which reflect or represent advocacy of alcohol, tobacco and drug use, violence, disruptive behavior, religious, gender, ethnic or racial intimidation, or other criminal activity including, but not limited to, swastikas and confederate flags; Body marks, tattoos, or other body alterations which reflect or represent advocacy of alcohol, tobacco and drug use, violence, disruptive behavior, religious, gender, ethnic or racial intimidation, or other criminal activity;
Hats, hoods, and caps as appropriate for the weather, except as otherwise prohibited under this procedure, may be worn outside school buildings.
